Inspired by the Irish legend "Oidhe chlainne Lir (The fate of the children of Lir)", according to which the children of lord Lir (Fionnuala, Aodh, Fiachra and Conn) were transformed into white swans by their jealous stepmother, Aoife, for 900 years. This legend was a basis for the ballet "Swan Lake".
